Local Fires

August 4, 2018, Ennis and George Smith, Squaw Valley

All fires are unfortunate but a couple of positive things struck me, looking at the burn.  The first was that most of the trees were not scortched.  That means no underbrush or ladder fuels were under the trees.  Next year or the year after, it will be hard to tell there was a fire there.  The other thing was a about where the fire started.  It probably started in an outbuilding which was close to the house.  The house didn't burn.  There was no fuel between house and outbuilding to catch fire.  This is a great example of good attention to fire safety around a home.  It pays to "harden your home and property!
