OUtsmart An Ember

Critter Creek Demonstration Project

OTFSC is sponsoring a demonstration clean-up at Critter Creek.  Join us to learn how to evaluate your home for fire danger, then participate in some hands on clean-up to improve the chances of Critter Creek surviving a fire.  The party starts at 10:00, March 10th, at Critter Creek, 36710 Sand Creek Rd. Squaw Valley.   We will go through an evaluation of the firesafe conditions around the house, then break into groups to work at three designated sites on the property.  Bring a sack lunch and lots of questions.  There will be a brief wrap up and expect to finish at 2:00

The "Outsmart an Ember campaign kicked off at Critter Creek March 10th.  It was a fun day and a big success with over 30 people showing up to work.  Craig Jones gave a brief talk about proper cleanup techniques around structures then everyone was given sites to work on and the work commenced.  People trimmed bushes, brushed, cleared overgrowth from around buildings and bridges, and generally made the property safer for the residents and the animals.  To see the rest of the photo album, click here.
